I personally never train stamina because I want to get my starters around 64 minutes for the week. In order to do that, I start them in my 2 league games then I don't play them at all in the scrimmage. I've noticed that my high stamina guys tend to get more minutes than I want (sometimes more than 72) while my guys with low stamina only have minutes in the low to mid 30s, which is what I want. Because of that, I purposely don't train their stamina. Does this idea actually make any sense or is it just stupid?

If your players (especially the starters) have decent stamina, I don't see any problem with it. For me, I want most of my players (especially the starters) to have at least mediocre. I usually train stamina during the all star weekend and one week of the playoff, when there are only 2 games per week. I think good stamina really helps in the 4th quarter.
But players' stamina drops as time passes by, so I think spending 1 week training stamina is not a bad idea.

It could make sense to a certain point, but when you start facing defeats because of lack of produtivity in the 4st qtr you'll realize that is better to have players with high stamina.
