Well, karma is a...you know what.

2 seasons ago we had an extremely lucky schedule in the Consolation tournament, drawing mostly countries that were even smaller than NZ! Well this tournament, that all changed. We've already played #33 Turkey, and lost by 70 points. We have also drawn: #46 Austria, #30 Hrvatska, #32 Poland, and #8 Italy (WHAT?!?!). Wow. That is a European pain train right there. Our only solace is that we play #61 Belarus and #97 Barbados in the last 2 games.

So don't expect any miracle run to the knockout stage this time around. It's unfortunate that we won't likely won't even be within 30-40 points of most of these teams, but I'll do my best. Sneak in a CT every once in a while for fun. I'll be more active on the offsite forum so you guys can help me with the gameplan and try to experiment with different things.

Say a little prayer for the NT! :-)

Wow suprised Itaily isn't in the World Cup but I guess they have the hardest road there! Best of luck man, and as long as the teams players keep improving your still doing a good job in my books :)

Holy crap. I did not expect that AT ALL. Our eternal starting guard Panjaitan went down after 13 minutes. We even TIE'd! We were down 10-2 only 2 minutes into the game, so it looked like it was going to go as I expected. They were up 41-32 early in the 2nd when we went on a 14-0 run to take a 5 point lead. And somehow the lead was 8 at the half! We maintained the lead, still up 10 after 3 quarters.

We were still up 96-81 with 5:27 to play, and that's when our boys started to choke it away. In less than 3 minutes it was down to 102-100. An Austrian jumpshot with 13 seconds to go gave the Austrians their first lead in forever, 107-106. But with 1 second left, Ulf Hauer and his awesome passing skills (I'm thrilled that I started him) found Bedenham on the baseline for the jumper and the win!

MVP's were SG Len Stevens for coming off the bench after Panjaitan went down to lead the team with 23 points, and our big men Val Montana (22 pts, 14 rebs) and Jonathan Bedenham (20 pts, 22 rebs) after being matched up against Austrian Centers with 100-200k salaries.

Nice win bro. They are 30 places above and have monster like players and more managers but looks like NZ BB showed them how its done. Congratz and looks like I have under estimated you.
