I just decided to buy more trainable players, and was going to do a full sweep of players after this season. Is it a good time to sell during the offseason, while the players are illegible for the playoffs?

I agree it is not time to sell but if you are looking for more trainable players now may be the time to buy. Not many teams are looking for players right now, everyone will be on the market after the draft! Thats when you need to sell.
