Why is inside defense lower when I play a 2-3 zone. As opposed to Man to Man?

Probably Gameshape, different minutes for your inside players (depending on the game, the players that come for the bench play more time, lowering your rating) and well, different players

Different enthusiasm levels? Played different players in different positions? Perhaps your starters played less minutes in the 2-3 zone and so defence was lower as your backups played more time? Perhaps your small forward has atrocious inside defence?

I noticed the same thing, and I found somewhere on the forums about how 2-3 zone is kind of screwy in thegame engine. I now Run 3-2 and it is actually more effective. How I understand from the forum post I read is that 3-2 helps stop the pass into the inside, so actually can be more effective, However you probably lose out on the rebounds.

found the post it's actually the FAQ sticky, look at bottom of post about tactics.

2-3 seems to me to be the best defense against inside tactics.

At your level I 100% agree. When you get to the higher levels w/ better guards you find that they are able to adjust as the game goes on and start hitting more outside jumpers but they still dont take many 3's.

However you probably lose out on the rebounds.

According to the manual running a 3-2 actually doesn't decrease rebounding at all. I believe this is true in a 3-2 vs outside tactic. Vs an Inside Tactic the inside tactic itself will result in more offensive rebounds vs any defense than a base offense would as more people are crashing the basket.

Do you mean that Man to Man and 3-2 zone provide the same rebounding ratings? I don't think that would be right :S
