I am sure that people enjoy playing this game for many reasons but was just wondering if you think that not wanting promotion for myself in my first season is wrong?

My philosophy from the very start of th season has been that I don`t want promotion into a higher league this season. This is my firstseason so my plan has been to use this season to gain experience in the various nuances of the game. Training, buying and selling, tactics, etc. My plan has been to use this season to build a foundation that will allow me to progress next season rather than this.

I have been expanding my stadium and training good young players all with a view to giving me a better economy next season. I am confident that one young centre of mine will become a dominant player for me in this division next season and that my other two trainee Cs could be sold for good profit. This will allow me to really improve my team greatly for next seaon.

I know that many of you will think me mad for not wanting promotion this season but I genuinely feel that this, my rookie year, and the things I have been doing will allow me to improve my team next year. I did not want to gain promotion this year and not be competitive in the higher division and end up losing constantly each week nxt season. I do not want to be a "yoyo" club.

Does anybody think I`m mad for using this season to position myself for improvement next season and not wanting promotion in my first year or does anybody think that this may be a sound strategy?

Just interested in hearing your thoughts.

If u promote u will gain way more money no matter what happens. So u would better promote.BUT dont neglect your trainingfor any reason. It is the most essential thing after winning games!Dont fear the upper division and do whatever it takes you to promote.Best wishes!!!

I agree even if you are losing every game in a higher division you will be making more money then now through higher attendance revenue and tv contract. If you come last in the higher division u might even be lucky enough to get a great draftee.

In your position I disagree with you. I think you would manage to stay in DIII England while making more money and properly training. However I do feel there are certain situations such as USA, Italy, Spain, or another big country to not want to make the jump to DI too soon. That can be argued both ways though.

Thanks for the replies.

Everything that you both say makes sense but if I was making loads of money in a higher league but losing every game then I wouldn`t be enjoying the game. Once this first season is done I will go all out for promotion. This season was really a chance for me to figure everything out. I signed up one day before the first game of the season so I was clueless for a couple of weeks.

Thanks.

Thanks for that. I always thought that the jump in divisions would be large enough for me not to be competitive. Now that you`ve told me that maybe my entire season plan has been wrong. . .

Thanks for the response

I`ve never tried to lose games. I always pick my team to tr and win but winning and getting promotion hasn`t been my priority this season.

Your still in the playoffs 3rd place w/ a better PD than the teams above you. Just try and win and see what happens. If you promote great, if you don't then that was your original plan.

Always put training first until your established. I single pos train every week but I do want to win the playoffs so I am saving the skills I need to 2 pos (ie JS and 1v1) for those weeks.

im actually in your position right now.
I got promoted to D.III and im really comfortable where i am.
Yes, you do recieve much more money in the higher division, however, i feel if i continue to lose, i will not enjoy the game as much, and im trying to train a great player without throwing too many games to get minuites, and not losing gameshape.

I probably wouldnèt promote this season seeing as my player salaries are among the lowest in my league, however i wouldnèt go after promotion next season either as i do not want to lose all my games, and face relegation (which i hear is terrible) in D.II

If you want to stay put, learn the game, and get ready for next season, then do that, then you can have fun dominating your league next season.

Good luck

If your goal is to have fun with this game then I think priority number one should be to get out of your country's bottom division as fast as humanly possible. The game is way, way more fun when you're not playing 50%-80% of your games against bots or owners who only sign in once a month.
