I know that training players past about 26-27 does not profit much of anything, And I no that 18 year olds train the fastest. I was wondering where the cut off would be for "young" players. Is the age range from 18-21 is where they train most rapidly...or is is 18-20, or 18-23... Which age range sound most accurate. Do 23 year olds train as fast as 20 year olds? I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this.

I would say that 18 to 21 is generally considered "young". However, if I started training a player when he was 18, and he had good stats when he was 21, I would probably continue training him until he was 23 or 24 to make a great player.

23 year olds will train slower than 20 year olds.

For buying new trainees I would try and get them at 19 and under (I mean players with decent stats but nothing great).
But feel free to buy a 20 to 22 year old with pretty good current stats that you can continue to train (this will cost a lot more to buy though).

I agree that 18-21 are considered the "young range". I one position train and use this formula:

Game 1: 20-23 year old A
Game 2: 20-23 year old B
Scrimmage: 18-19 year old C

I find it comprimises my lineup to play 18-19 year old high upside trainees during league matches. I buy borderline starting material from 20-23 years old to train to a starting/strong backup role during league play and use my high upside player during meaningless bouts. I am only in Div. IV in USA so about half a seasons training can make my young player viable, though.

Thanks for the answers all. It should help me to better evaluate the type of player I want to train.

I think this can help you :
If 1 is the highest your player can earn by training ....
Age
18 1
19 0.91
20 0.82
21 0.73
22 0.64
23 0.55
24 0.46
25 0.37
26 0.28
27 0.19
28 0.1
29 0.01
30 0

How was this data compiled? Are 24/25yo's really less than 1/2 the training speed of an 18yo.....

I don't think that is from data!

He took 0.09 for each year (9%) and just that!

Although, I would say that in 10 pops of an 18 year old I usually see only 9 in a 19 year old! But that also depends on sub-levels and it is complicated to say without having a big database!

No...His post is wrong...I heard it was a 3 to 3.5% drop a year...So a 25 yr old will lose about 20% of training speed... I wouldn't quote me on this but I saw something in the forums around season 9 that was posted by one of the beta boys. peace

Most likely the drop is not linear but exponential!
