The season 10 draft is coming - probably sometime between December 14th and 15th. I would like to get as much scouting done within the first 2 days of the draft as possible (hopefully all of it). As with this past season, I would like to include divisions I-IV. Division IV gets to be a bit of a slog after a while (at some point almost all the teams are bots). But it is worth going through them all as we did come across 2 extra players in something like division IV.50 this past season.

What I would need is a bunch of people who can go through all the season 10 drafts and compile a list of 18 yr olds. Player ID and name would be sufficient - if you could send them to me via BB-mail with a player link, all the better (this saves me a bit of time - I can just click on the player link instead of doing a search). The criteria would be:

-18 yrs old
-salary of $3,500+
-a potential of star or better
-not retired
-does not belong to a bot team

AM, if you are still up for it, I would like you to coordinate this (yes, I may have already burned that bridge but if you still want to do it AM, go for it). Basically, he would tell everyone which leagues to scout and keep track of which ones were still left outstanding. If not, I don't mind coordinating it. But the less I have to do the better. ;-)

So just post here if you are interested in volunteering and are available early in the week of December 15th. I think O-Rod and hggriffin have already volunteered but the more people we have, the less work for each person.

AM posted this at some point which is a great guide to exactly what needs to be done:

1. For the division you are assigned, look at the conference page (either Big 8 or Great 8 and check to see whether or not the team is bot. If the team is bot you don't need to look at it (you can tell by seeing the last login date, since bot teams will have a blank entry).

2. If a team is not bot, open their team page in a new window (saves time by not having to go back through old pages).

3. From the team page, go to that team's roster.

4. In the roster page, sort the players by age... they are automatically sorted by youngest to oldest (meaning the players we are looking for will be at the top of the page).

5. Note the players that fit the requirements for tracking... all newly drafted players will have a DMI of 0. If there is an 18-year old that doesn't have a DMI of 0, it means that the age update has yet to take place, and he's actually supposed to be 19-years old.

6. If the player is for sale, mention this to our U-21 manager, so that he can take down the skillset of the player.

7. Repeat the process above for each of the teams in the conference.

8. Repeat the process above for the other conference.

9. Repeat the process above for the other divisions.

Finally, I have opened a new federation (unfortunately only supporters can enter it, but it is the best I can do since we can no longer post transfer listed players in the open forum).

(/community/fedoverview.aspx?fedid=13208)

This fed is the Canadian transfer list federation. It is currently a work in progress. For the moment, I will just be posting 18 yr U21 potentials that are on the transfer list. Feel free to also post your own if you are considering transferring them or they are already on the market. Also, if you see one on the market, please post him there if you have the time.

I will copy this info. to the off-site forum, too, for those who don't have supporter.

I've already volunteered to help on the offsite forum and my offer still stands. If AM is going to be in charge of this then just contact me and let me know what leagues need scouting and I'll get through them.

Good to know. Also good to see that Greerzilla is there to help.

I will wait for AM to post here that he is taking charge... If he does not post, I will be in touch with the volunteers sometime around the 12th of December.

I don't mind doing some scouting of youths... unless my computer gets fried again before the draft. I don't think we'll need to look at the draft page at all, but just at the rosters of the teams with a last login date... if there is a team with a last login date that is in early to mid November, then the prospects of that team should be made a priority to be inspected since they will be the first ones to go bot and become possible candidates for saving.

For active players that read the forums here, please sell any decent 18 year old prospects within the first couple of weeks of Season 11, if you have no intention of training them. Top teams usually don't get any good prospects from the draft, and many teams could use a Canadian trainee at the start of next season.

As for dividing up the divisions, I would say that divide the number of teams in Canada by the number of volunteers, and then divide that by 16 to figure out the number of divisions to look at.

For example with 5 people, it would be:
Player 1: Divisions 1.1, 2.1 to 2.4, 3.1 to 3.3
Player 2: Divisions 3.4 to 3.11
Player 3: Divisions 3.12 to 3.16, 4.1 to 4.3
Player 4: Divisions 4.4 to 4.11 (or higher depending on the number of active teams in those divisions)
Player 5: Divisions 4.12 to 4.64

Thanks. I think this is a great opportunity to show the community that I have no idea what I'm talking about. ;-)

You seem to have things well in hand so I will leave it to you... I would suggest giving some flexibility as some volunteers will have more time than others. But whatever works.

Of course, you can also put me down as a volunteer, but if things go quickly my priority will be taking down the skills of the players and posting the players who are transfer listed in the federation and the off-site forum.

Jordanjr is also interested in helping:

I am not sure if you have already gotten enough people to help with scouting, but i would be glad to help as long as i am not stuck doing the lowest division with all the bot teams again.

Can you post who is doing what by the weekend?

I will start with two leagues (I will let you decide which ones) and take it from there. Hopefully by the time I am done that, player ids will be pouring into my BB-mail. ;-)

Thanks!

Actually, I just had a question about your suggestion for doing the draft scouting. See the post here if you don't know what I am talking about: (120820.2).

What happens if some scouting is done before the new leagues are created and some of it is done after? In that case, wouldn't we miss some teams who promote or demote?

If so, should we wait to do the scouting until the new leagues have been created?
