I was discussing the decline of the BB Global forum with one of BB's finest minds and have been trying to think of some topics that might be interesting . One that I have thought about is this: How old is too old to train a player? That got me thinking about the oldest popper (which must be me at 41 and still poppin' and lockin' every Sunday afternoon down at the Y...) anyone has seen. Last week I had a 28 year old center pop in driving. Anybody seen anyone older?

This led me to a more discussion-worthy question. How many train their players solely for the purpose of selling them and how many people train their players to improve their team, with older players getting significant if not full tariing minutes?
I am definitely the latter. Undeniably I have been horrible in the TL side of this game, and in the beginng I didn't quite grasp the concept of training players to sell them so I spread my training around a lot and offten trained the max positions or even...gasp... team training in REB and PASSING. Even after I learned of my mistake I still decided to stick somewhat to a broader training regimen, albeit with a focus on creating well-rounded SF. They are now 23 and 24 years old and still improving their skills fairly regularly. I have the luxury of being in a small market, but I have a pretty successful team, so this style of training is viable in some circumstances. Anybody else care to share their thoughts about long-term training or just give an example of someone older than 28 popping in a skill?

Once I scored a basket that still makes me laugh.

One of my original players popped last season when 33. I don't remember the circumstances but somehow he got some minutes and came back to level which he regressed from before that season. Jump shot.

So theoretically as long as there is previous drop and thus a high sub level of skill player can pop no matter how old unless the drop caused by age is too steep to come back (I guess there will be very old players kept just for fun in the future).

Its always been train to sell for me and still is but just on less players now.

I've always got in mind who is going to be the next to leave and what the incoming fee will be going towards. I aim to upgrade my sale to a younger and higher potential player which then pushes someone else down the pecking order to be rounded off ready for market.

I'm happy for someone else to undertake 3 seasons of single position training and pay for it.

My only regret is that I have definitely sold off some players too early but in hindsight it is the fastest way I believe to improve.

As the BB's announce match engine changes and we've discovered that certain skills train faster/slower than others I have always tried to factor this into my training regime as opposed to other training regimes which couldve been more suited to the players I own... (i love waiting 5 weeks for 1 OD pop on a 7ft guy :D)

I am really looking forward to the coming seasons where some managers will opt to continuously train high potential players deep into their 20's vs others that will prefer to trade down for younger options. I think it will be interesting to learn if the extra skills that managers are able add to 26-28yo's plus the accumalated experience by these ages effect their performance.

The next phase of the game will surely add more variables for everyone to consider and I think allow the gap from top managers to the chasing pack become smaller.

Something similar happened to me last season, except there was no previous drop. He had never been that high in skill before he popped. 33 years old and popped in OD.

I happend to grab a screen of the event:

And as a side note, this season he is on a rapid decline.
His OD is down to average, and ID down to pitiful. JS and driving down one level each. Good thing he is just a scrub.
