Obviously a part of being the U21 coach is working closely with the NT coach to achieve all of the goals for the USA NT/U21 Program.

Last I checked, that NT coach is me.

Tell me how you'd work with me to achieve our goals (for the NT, the Worlds title, and for the U21's, qualifications to the Worlds).

Hi!

As a candidate for U21 management, I am well aware that a coordination of management will bring more success to both teams as I already mentioned it in my speech.

The way I would work with you is to define what we need in order to have balanced and powerful teams. (Obviously this also includes working with USA player trainers) Therefore, with a good scouting and training plan, I believe U21 will be the investment for future success of NT team. Sharing information about the players, the way they are currently trained by their owners etc. will be very important and I would like to play a role with being the connection between the owners of U21 players and you as the manager of NT because they are the candidates of being NT players. Of course any suggestions coming from you will be extremely useful because you have the experience of NT management so I would like to be in contact with you all the time.

I may lack knowledge about NT/U21 team management because I haven't managed a NT before but I am very open to learning and I am sure sharing ideas with you and other managers in the forums all the time will give me and the team great benefit which will be used in improvement of both teams.

Coco mentioned in his speech the issue of training in the US, specifically siting a player who had incredible starting stats... but isn't getting trained (well or at all).

So, I ask all the candidates:

For many managers in this game, there primary focus is not on the NT/U21.. but on quickly gaining promotion to the next level. There are any number of players who have gotten rid of all of their US players on their squad in order to buy "better" players on the market. Those who have chosen to keep many of their US players (either through an initial draw or via the draft) may be training sub-optimally for national competition... but exactly as they should be training for their own teams success.

The question is this: How are you going to convince managers that doing single position training is not only great for the national team... but for their own teams success as well?

Secondarily, how are you going to convince foreign managers to train our players in a more effecient manner?

I see your point about community involvement and agree that the community which involves more into the forums tend to be more successful. However, I believe that this is a cultural thing. The countries like Italy and China have people who like to spend time on forums and share ideas while the USA managers would prefer not to involve much in the forums. Therefore, I don't think anything particular which will attract forum/community involvement can be done. Of course, this may be a problem for NTs but I don't really have any solutions about this. The only advantage for the USA can be the number of users which even with a small percentage can produce some involvement. Another point is that as far as I know more involved countries use some teams just to produce NT players so they find voluntary managers, make them train potentially good guys and use them on the team so what we can do is just to look for these kinds of managers who can put team success in the 2nd place.

On the other hand, I don't really favor discussing tactics anywhere because it is the style of the manager and I think it shouldn't be shared before match. After the match it can be discussed in the forums, the manager can explain why the set of tactics was used etc. I also think having a different forum for discussing tactics will discourage people to involve. Another problem in this, to me, discussing tactics would confuse the manager. To conclude, I favor discussing tactics post-match.

About your question about convincing manager to train 1 position, I don't think there is a set of way to do that. To be honest, with the current tactics system, I do believe it is more useful for teams to choose 2 pos. training in order to have a chance to train 5 guys in a week while trying to train 1 pos. there will be a problem (foul trouble etc.) which will prohibit the team to train 3 guys with full minutes. Therefore I need to be convinced to be able to convince others that 1 pos training is better for their team. :)
However, the thing I said above about trying to find managers to train guys just for NT would be more beneficial. This action of course can only be voluntary but we may be able to find some managers for this. I am planning to use forums to advertise in order to find teams like that.

About foreign managers, it will be hard to convince them with a 1 pos. training to be given to a USA player however I will be talking to the managers who own NT potential guys in order to find a way, especially listening to any suggestions they may have about it. Nevertheless, I don't believe anything can be done if they don't want to participate in USA NT success and must be understood.

I think that with the possibilities of extra merchandise income for homegrown talent you are going to see a change in how players are bought on the market and trained. I have recently gotten an inquiry for one of my players from a team of his nationality who is willing to pay about 66% overmarket based on his nationality not his skills. We will see how much more people actually report getting for a homegrown but this should lead to increased enthusiasm for the draft.
